period?
In grade 5, marking period 1 the instructional focus is to provide students
opportunities to combine movement concepts and skills. Additionally, students
evaluate physical activities and their influence on body systems, fitness, and
heart health. Lastly, students recognize that with effective time management,
goal-setting, practice, and persistence leads to skill development and improved
fitness.
During weeks 1–5, students integrate movement concepts and skills to
demonstrate passing objects with hands and feet. Sample learning tasks provide
opportunities for students to recognize the importance of self-evaluation and
feedback while improving skills. In weeks 6–9, students examine and compare the
health enhancing physical fitness components: cardio-respiratory, muscular
endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility.
